Collection and Use of Your Information

Information We Collect Directly from You
When visiting our Sites, you may opt in to provide us with your name and email address in order to create an account. If you choose to endorse an Educator who registers for an account, we will collect, use, and share your information in the following ways and as otherwise described under "How we share and disclose your information" below.


Name & email address
When endorsing an Educator, we will create an internal account profile with your name and email address so that we attribute current and future gifts to you. We use this information to correspond with you regarding transactional activity, which may include confirmation emails, receipts, and updates.

Gift & payment information
We use the payment information you enter to process transactions according to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. Credit card payments are processed by a third-party provider ( and are governed by the third-party provider’s privacy policy and terms of service. Credit card information is never retained on our servers. If you choose to save your credit card information, the data will be held by the third-party provider and Fanschool will store a corresponding anonymized token. The amount of your gift will be shared with the educators whom you endorse

Display name & messages
When you make an endorsement, you will have the option to choose a name to be displayed with your message. You may opt to hide your message from the generally available Fan Page. Otherwise, your display name and comments shall be deemed to be public information, which means it is non-confidential and Fanschool shall have no obligation of any kind with respect to it. This information will be publicly posted on the Educator's Fan Page.


We collect the following information when you sign up for an Educator account on our Sites.

First name, last name, & school information
Publicly, we’ll use the display name you choose to share (for example, “Ms. B”) along with your school name and location. This publicly displayed name will be treated as non-confidential, and be used to identify your Fan Page on Fanschool and through any of our social media sharing tools.We’ll use your full name to deliver resources to your attention when a project is fully funded, and may share your full name with your school administrators and colleagues to confirm that you are eligible to use Fanschool.

Email address
We use your email address to set up your account, through which you can access educator-specific services such as registering to receive financial gifts via endorsements. We also use it to correspond with you regarding use of our Sites, deliver a regular newsletter, and contact you about special opportunities. If you choose to participate in our referral program, your email address will be shared along with other account information with a third-party service to verify that the referral is genuine and to detect fraudulent referrals.

We'll wish you a happy birthday! For educators, we’ll also post a note on your Fan Page to let fans know it’s your birthday.

Information That We Automatically Collect During Your Visit

When you visit our Sites, our web server automatically recognizes and collects your IP address. We also keep track of how users arrive at our Sites (e.g., via a search engine) and the path of users through our Sites. We also collect aggregate information about how our Sites are used, derived mainly from tallying page views throughout our Sites. This information helps us prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, and gauge how users respond to new features.

To gather and track this information, we use cookies. A cookie is a small data file sent from a website or application and stored on your computer or device. Cookies allow us to recognize your browser when you return to our Sites, and to remember your login information. This helps us provide certain user features, better understand how you interact with our Sites, and monitor aggregated usage. We do not serve targeted advertising; however, when you use the Internet, unaffiliated parties such as ad networks, web analytics companies, and social networking platforms may collect information about your online activities over time and across our and other websites. This information may be used to provide advertisements for products and services that may interest you, and those companies may use cookies, clear GIFs, and other tracking technologies. We do not track your activity across different websites or online services.

How We Share and Disclose Your Information

We do not sell or rent your information. We may use and disclose your personal information as described above and as follows:

How We Protect Your Information

Your privacy is essential, and we use physical, technical, and administrative safeguards designed to preserve the security of your personal information and protect it from unauthorized use or disclosure. When you endorse an Educator on our site, information about your gift is transmitted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and payment information is tokenized so that it’s never stored on our servers. We store data in cloud-based environments that use firewalls and other industry-standard protections in an effort to prevent access from outside intruders. Access to data is limited to those individuals who need it in order to perform their business function and protected wherever possible by two-factor authentication. Although we use appropriate security measures once we have received your personal information, the transmission of data over the internet (including by email) is never completely secure.

How We Protect Children’s Privacy

Our Sites are intended for educators, and families. Children under 18 require the consent of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect or solicit information from anyone under the age of 13 without parent approval. In the event that we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the age of 13, we will delete that information as soon as practicable from our server. We review educator endorsements prior to publicly display on an Educator’s Fan Page to ensure any student identifiers that were inadvertently included, such as a full name, email address, or phone number, are removed before being sent to donors, and we do not retain this information.

Data Retention

We will retain user account information for as long as needed to provide our services, comply with our contractual or legal obligations, audit requirements, resolve disputes, and prevent abuse. We also retain deidentified, aggregate information about activity related to content and endorsements submitted on our Sites, to understand and gain insights into how Educators are being supported through our Sites.

Links to Third-Party Websites

Our Sites contain links to third-party websites, including social networking websites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s website. We offer these links for your convenience, and the fact that we link to a website is not an endorsement or representation of our affiliation with that third party. These other websites may place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data, or solicit personal information from you. Our privacy policy does not apply to these third-party websites, and we encourage you to be aware of when you leave our Sites and to review the privacy policies of each website you choose to link to from our Sites. We are not responsible for content or privacy policies of third-party websites.

How You Can Access and Adjust Your Information

You may correct your account information at any time by logging into your online account and modifying your profile or Fan Page. You have the right to request access to the personal information that we record about you. You also have the right to request corrections, amendments, and deletions of any of your personal information in our possession, including information you may have provided to us as part of a project submission. If you have provided us with your information in order to receive updates about our Sites, you may unsubscribe from those updates at any time through links provided in our emails, or through your profile preferences.

Updates to Our Privacy Policy

Fanschool may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time. When material changes are made, Fanschool will indicate the modification change date in the “last updated” date at the top of the page.

We may also post a notice on the applicable Site or notify account holders  in accordance with applicable laws. We encourage you to periodically review this Privacy Policy to be informed of how Fanschool is protecting your information. Your continued use of our website after a modification of our Privacy Policy indicates your consent to such modification.
